Almost all lateral pipe repair or “rehabilitation” systems involve digging – even the so-called “trenchless” systems. The Formadrain system requires no digging whatsoever
Instead of repairing or “rehabilitating” a damaged pipe, the FORMADRAIN system actually renews it with a completely brand new pipe – right inside the old one (with minimal loss in diameter).
The system can be used to repair:
- Split, cracked or broken joints
- Poorly installed or leaky joints
- Water infiltration
- Leakage problems (resulting from aging, corrosion, etc.)

With the Formadrain system, the new pipe completely fills the old one – with absolutely no seams or joints. The entire pipe is one single piece. And there are no gaps anywhere around the new pipe, so there is no chance of tree roots – for example – penetrating and causing future damage (with many other systems the new pipe lies at the bottom of the old one leaving a gap at the top).
Systems that use felt have to have pieces sown together to deal with a transition, creating a weakness. The Formadrain system creates perfect 3-4, 4-5 or 4-6 transitions, all in one piece from one size pipe to another – and any size main or lateral pipe can be lined, from 2 to 60 inches
Whether you need to repair public sewer systems, industrial, residential or commercial pipes, the system works perfectly. It also does not matter what material the pipe is made of (clay, concrete, asbestos cement, corrugated steel, etc.). The system can be adapted to any need.
The special steam heated curing system means that a new pipe can be cured in about half an hour and ready to use (a 50-foot lateral pipe can be ready in 35 minutes). Other systems can literally take hours before the curing process is finished, as they are dependant on the temperature in the environment. Our “hot cure” system also means higher quality control for you.
Special materials allow for a relatively thin and yet incredibly strong pipe - stronger than any other system on the market. Unlike other systems which use felt (with polyester, etc.), our system employs fiberglass and a special epoxy resin that is really tough – it can’t be broken with a sledgehammer.

Here’s what typically happens:
First your lawn would get dug up (very often this includes bushes, flowers, etc.) and the sidewalk or possibly the driveway would be broken.
Next your sewer pipe would be removed and replaced with a new one (or repaired if needed).
Finally, everything dug up or removed would have to be replaced and restored, including the sidewalk, (pouring cement, waiting for it to dry etc…) your lawn, flowers, bushes, and everything else.
