Danforth’s GlobalFoundries Project Team Receives Turner Overall Subcontractor of the Year

Published Date – Oct 29, 2014

Turner Construction recognized the hard work and dedication of the GlobalFoundries Fab 8 Project Team. The Team is responsible for the fabrication and installation of over $24 million of sheet metal in a 12 month period. The Team was led by Project Managers Todd Follis and Mark Staub who have been instrumental to the project as a whole. The GlobalFoundries site is an impressive 600,000 ft² computer wafer manufacturing facility located in Malta, NY. The site has limited access and is filled with multiple trades from multiple contractors. Planning was essential to getting manpower and prefabricated sheet metal materials onto the site in order to deliver the project on-time.

Danforth was nominated by the Turner’s Mechanical Project Manager, Robert Brown. Robert is responsible for handling the contract between Turner Construction and Danforth for the GlobalFoundries project. Mr. Brown commented on working with the Danforth Team:

“The Danforth Company kept pace with an extremely aggressive schedule in a building with very limited access and multiple trades and multiple contractors. Their experienced computer aided drafting team created the footprint for the BIM process that was used to coordinate their work with the miles of mechanical and process pipes for this class 100 clean room manufacturing facility.”

The award is given to the subcontractor who excels in overall performance in the planning room and on the jobsite. Danforth and Turner have a long standing relationship and have worked on a number of major projects throughout New York State including Gate’s Vascular Institute, Children’s Hospital of Buffalo and Buffalo Life Sciences.
