Rochester Service Apprentice Highlight

Published Date – Jan 12, 2016

Service Apprentice, Tim Jones, was recognized for his hard work and initiative this month. Tim is based out of Danforth’s Victor, NY office. Tim is a 3rd year service apprentice working on key maintenance accounts.

Currently, Tim is working on Danforth’s Verizon Wireless Cell Tower preventive maintenance account. This account is a more complex than a normal maintenance agreement because Tim has to travel to and maintain approximately 250 sites. These sites vary from inside a building to on the top of a mountain. Tim must coordinate with third party building owners to gain access to the cell sites in order to perform service work. In the past, Tim has been a part of several projects in the Rochester area including the F.F. Thompson Hospital Addition and Renovation, University of Rochester Laser Lab and Golisano Children’s Hospital.

Despite being a 3rd year apprentice, Tim has been working with Danforth for over 4 years. Tim acknowledges that Danforth is a good fit for him because, “It’s a well known and honest company that stands behind their work.” Tim takes pride in his work and draws parallels between his values and the company’s. He also said, “The Company has helped me grow my education and talents to become a well rounded individual.

Tim has his OSHA 30 hour training, confined space and ARC Flash certifications. He uses that training to stay safe on the jobsite. Tim pays special attention to identifying safety concerns before beginning work to ensure the proper use of tools and PPE is used to minimize the risk of injury. In the future, Tim wants to continue growing as a service tech and aspires to become a service manager.
