Danforth Brings Design-Build Expertise to Golisano Children’s Hospital
Published Date – Aug 17, 2017
Two new floors featuring operating suites, 23 private pre and post-operating rooms, ICU facilities, as well as other specialty medical service areas will soon be open in the University of Rochester Golisano Children’s Hospital. As a team member on the original contract for the new 250,000 sq ft facility which opened in 2015, Danforth also completed mechanical and plumbing services for these new floors as part of the Phase II construction plan.

Danforth’s Integrated Project Delivery services gave the design team vital feedback and provided solutions to layout challenges prior to the start of construction. Our contract scope included fabrication and installation of HVAC, plumbing, medical gas, and fire protection systems.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on August 9 to debut the new spaces to the public. The $45 million hospital brings state of the art operating technology and treatment offerings for the youngest residents of the greater Rochester area.

With significant increases in the surgical and specialty care cases the hospital has recently seen, these new operating suites and intensive care units will allow doctors to better serve patients and their families.
