For the past two years, the Ballston Spa High School Technology students have been in the process of building a “Tiny Home” as a hands-on field project. During the course of this project, a partnership developed between the High School and the Malta Veterans Appreciation Program. When the Veterans Program became involved, they helped drive this project to completion by organizing donations and finding additional labor that was needed. With the partnership between the veterans and the high school in place, the purpose of the project became donating the tiny home to a local veteran in need.

Danforth’s Jeremy Hart is involved with the Veterans organization and was asked if Danforth would assist with the plumbing portion of the project. Danforth’s Executive Vice President of Eastern New York Operations, Ray Rudolph, made arrangements for Danforth to donate all of the plumbing fixtures and associated materials. Jeremy spent time helping the students develop a plan for piping and created a list of materials. The students completed all of the interior rough plumbing. Once the house was moved to its final location, Jeremy Hart and Jeffrey LaPointe completed the plumbing under the house and tied it into the site services. Many people pulled together to drive this project to completion. This past Saturday, the keys to the “Tiny Home” were turned over to its new owner, a local Veteran.

Over the years Danforth has supported the Veterans Appreciation Program in many ways. ENY Business Development Manager Steve DiRaimo and a few other employees have been active participants in the annual golf outing/fundraiser for the Malta Veterans Appreciation Program. Proceeds from their fundraisers help fund multiple projects (with the help of volunteers) completed for local area Veterans in need. Danforth’s work with the Malta Veterans Appreciation Program is another example of how we execute our vision to build meaningful relationships from coast to coast.
