Danforth Goes Red for Heart Health Month

Our Danforth Teams in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Albany took the initiative to “GO RED” every Friday during the month of February to commemorate National Heart Health Month. All team members were encouraged to wear red in the office every Friday to signify awareness and support for Heart Health. According to the American Heart Association, cardiovascular disease kills about 2,300 people in the United States every day.

In addition to wearing red, team members were encouraged to participate in a heart healthy activity calendar throughout the month of February, which provided goals for exercising, healthy eating, increasing your daily water intake and getting an adequate amount of sleep. The American Heart Association states that heart disease can be prevented through not smoking, healthy eating, controlling your blood sugar and cholesterol, treating high blood pressure and making sure you are getting at least 150 minutes of intermediate physical activity per week. To help with these goals, team members were provided with healthy recipes and tips every week to try in the kitchen. Thank you to everyone who participated throughout the month of February!
