Are you looking for an opportunity to grow with a company? If so, we are looking for a direct-hire Energy Engineer in Albany, NY.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Coordinate and lead facility site visits with client representative and communicate with outside vendors as it pertains to project development
  • Lead technical aspects of preliminary and final performance contracting proposal development, including energy benchmarks, proposed project descriptions, utility cost savings and preliminary cost estimates
  • Determine existing facility MEP system design and control concepts and operating characteristics with client technical representative
  • Benchmark facilities utility use and costs compared to applicable standards (CBECS, etc.).
  • Reconcile utility use of applicable systems by applying operating characteristics or using energy simulation software
  • Compare existing building system operating efficiencies to current energy efficiency/code standards and industry best practices.  Identify and rank potential opportunities to renovate systems to improve system efficiencies and reduce operating costs
  • Determine potential savings and overall project opportunity
  • Calculate energy and cost savings using existing templates or create new calculations using applicable software tools
  • Create detailed scopes of work for all identified improvement opportunities.  Coordinate project scope with internal estimators, vendors and subcontractors to determine total installation costs
  • Determine savings interaction from proposed FIMS and expected rate changes
  • Create and maintain project development schedule. Manage the on-site activities of project team and subcontractors and coordinate all deliverables to meet deadlines
  • Evaluate Energy Star and LEED project opportunities and include in project scope
  • Coordinate project development opportunities with Operations team
  • Work in a team environment that includes managers, sales, estimating, design / CAD, construction & service personnel to drive business for all Danforth’s offerings

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Must-haves:

  • 3 years of experience in the construction industry
  • Experience conducting field inspections related to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment
  • Understanding of energy efficiency concepts, HVAC systems, and renewable energy systems
  • Knowledge in thermo and fluid dynamics, psychometrics, heating and cooling load calculations, commercial ventilation and air infiltration, data measurement/metering collection analysis
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; able to explain complex concepts to a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet proposal deadlines
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create results driven, team oriented environment

Nice to haves:

  • BS/BA in related discipline
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification
  • Project Management experience
  • Experience in the energy performance industry preferred
