Danforth was awarded the steam line and packaged boiler installation contract for Covanta Energy Corporation. The plant is located in Niagara Falls, NY and is used to convert municipal waste into reusable energy. This plant feeds surrounding chemical plants with steam power as well as supplies energy to the New York State Power Grid.

Danforth installed a new 225,000 PPH boiler in addition to a 24” steam line and 6” condensate line that connects the Niagara Falls plant to the Greenpac Facility, also located in Niagara Falls, NY. Danforth’s scope also included the installation of an 8,500 gallon deaerator tank, two feed water pumps and a reverse osmosis system. Danforth’s piping division was a key component to completing this project. The project includes new river water, natural gas and compressed air piping that will be used with the new systems.

With the use of such large boilers and all of the piping involved in the project, Danforth coordinated delivery by way of railcar and installed this massive unit using crane lifts. By keeping the facility operational during this project, Danforth was able to provide a much more seamless integration of the new equipment.
