O V E R V I E W
Danforth was selected to provide mechanical construction services for the Golisano Institute for Sustainability. The facility is located on the campus of Rochester Institute of Technology in New York State. Phase I of the project was completed in December 2012 and Phase II was completed in April 2013.
A P P R O A C H
The Danforth team was tasked with furnishing and installing all of the facility-wide HVAC and plumbing systems. The team installed multiple air handlers, chilled beams, a rain harvesting system, geothermal wells, and a complete exhaust system including laboratory exhaust. Danforth’s experts worked to coordinate several building systems that operate co-dependently including the smoke evacuation, geothermal heating, and traditional hot water systems.
R E S U L T S
This cutting edge facility serves as the Rochester Institute of Technology’s Green Energy Research Center. Additionally, the facility is LEED Platinum Certified, which is the highest certification possible for LEED projects.
